My parents bought this book when it was published way back in 1975, and I fell in love with it, taking it over as my own property. I was fascinated both with its subject matter, and especially with the fantastic full colour illustrations of dinosaurs. The realism of the drawings really captured my six year old imagination, and I'd spend hour after hour slavishly copying every scaly, sinewy, plated detail in pencil, onto any scrap of paper or pad I could find.
This eventually gave way to me copying Marvel (Kirby/ Buscema etc), and then DC comics (Buckler & Giordano/ Garcia Lopez)...finally resulting in me putting copying aside at last, and taking my first tentative steps creating my own comics when I was 13.
But I've never forgotten this book, and it still resides on my book case, a little bit worn, but, considering its age, in extremely good condition. And, rather ironically, it will be used once again as a source of reference...this time for the last few pages of 'Chickenheads'.
Tyrone is on his way :)
